Nice job Schen-lah award: "Under Summer Sun" by Matt Wertz. This was from my great Summer Mix from Schen, she did a nice job on it. i played it at work a lot last July... back when we still had the boombox. Back in the glory days. Check it out, it is a good one to have on your library for summer days. Or days you wish were summer days.

"Yeeeeahh, this was my facebook status earlier" award: "Ladies' Choice" Zac Efron. It was my facebook status. Earlier.

Gold Star: "Leave the Pieces" by The Wreckers. Im honestly surprised that it won, i didnt know it could beat out the cute twins Evan & Jaron. I love me some "From My Head To My Heart" but there is something about "Leave the Pieces" that gets me all wound up inside. I love to sing it with them. Total Gold Star.

"Substitution" by Silversun Pickups is another great song by this band. They are always blowing me away. I never notice how great of a lyricist Brian is until i take the time to read them:

I know you've seen this before
And now enough is too much
You don't want to be set back when the substitution comes
I'm sorry

You can read the whole thing here, and listen to it here. Lemme know what you think.

Inappropriate Song Award: "Best Cock on the Block" by Bitch and Animal. Yep, this one is from Dubs. I love her for it haha.

My new perspective kind of tune of the day: "The Quest" by Ballyhoo!. I usually dont post an entire song's lyrics since it seems like overkill. But this morning when i listened to this, i really got it. Sometimes i forget it. Here's a reminder:

Today i solemnly swear
Not to ask no more questions
'Cause i'm sick of trying to find myself
I'll just sneak out through the back
Watch the whole thing happen
And i'll never question fortune
Or my health

I'm gonna live it takin' in all the sun rays
'Cause one day we're gonna die anyway

When i wake up to the morning sun
A goodnight sleep, you know i had some
Well, i'm scratchin' my head as i get out of bed
'Cause today is a brand new day

Gonna stop all of my bitchin'
Got a cheesesteak in the kitchen
And my homey's never leave me high and dry
Gonna finish up this cd
Sell a million up completely
And i'll never even have to close my eyes

I'm gonna live it takin' in all the sun rays
'Cause one day we're gonna die anyway

When i wake up to the morning sun
A goodnight sleep, you know i had some
Well, i'm scratchin' my head as i get out of bed
'Cause today is a brand new day

Sooooo i googled song meanings for "Coconut" by Harry Nilsson and got some WHACKED up stuff. Um... pregnant whores, bongs, cocaine, abortions... it was crazy. I think you should just make up your own meaning. its better that way. (You put the lime in the coconut and drink em both up... Hmmmm....)

Why yes, i AM that cool song of the day: Jack's Lament - Danny Elfman. Who doesnt love The Nightmare Before Christmas? Its classic. I was in a dirty mind mood this morning when this came on (shocking i know) and it started to get REALLY REALLY funny. Like cracking up in the lobby of Kern building funny. Like stares from strangers funny. Can you just LISTEN to it and understand what i mean?? (oh and check out this terrible cover by the All-American Rejects. its awful lol)

There are few who'd deny, at what I do I am the best
For my talents are renowned far and wide
When it comes to surprises in the moonlit night
I excel without ever even trying
With the slightest little effort of my ghostlike charms
I have seen grown men give out a shriek
With the wave of my hand, and a well-placed moan
I have swept the very bravest off their feet

And that is just the FIRST VERSE. dudes. i think im on to something. hahahaha sorry, i really am a 13 year old boy today. More to come tomorrow. (thats what she said)
