Day 65

by thepilge on Nov.22, 2009, under

I AM IN THE AIRPORT BETCHES!!!! Ah, im so pumped! we are chillin in Cleveland, we have 30 minutes til our flight boards. im sooooo ready. Mmmm. I love planes and flying and airports and the whole thing. My favorite part is when the airplane is speeding down the runway, right before takeoff. Its that moment where the back wheels finally lift, and you can feel the weight of the world trying to keep you from flying. It feels like your soul is stuck on the ground for a split second, then pulls back up into your body. Then you are off, flying far away from where you were and speeding towards where you are going. LOVE IT.

Im kinda bummed that none of these songs have plane references or flying illusions. I mean, WTF iTunes? you are usually all over this shit. Its alright though, cuz im on VACA BABY!

Spoke too soon song of the day: "Scar Tissue (Live)" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Um, oops. This one kind of can relate to flying...

With the birds ill share this lonely view

I guess that counts.....

Rockin' Robin Award: "What I've Been Looking For" by Ryan & Sharpay. Once i figure out how to work Garage Band on my mac im totally gonna record myself singing both the harmony and melody of this song. Then overlap the vocal tracks together. Then ill make it my ringtone. (TWEET TWEET)

Say what? song of the day:"Tommy, Can You Hear Me?" by The Who. I still want to name a kid (boy or girl) Tommy after this album. And after the green power ranger. Duh. MMPR 4 Life.

Super-glue award: "Broken" by Lifehouse and "A Broken Promise" by Sleepercar. Why is everything so broken yo?

BADASS vocals song of the day: "Gospel Medley" by Destiny's Child. Dudes. Seriously. This is amazing stuff. The harmonies are beyond tight, the diction and dynamics are spot on, the styling is original, and the voices themselves are gorgeous. Plus the lyrics are actually meaningful and full of worship. I have a new five star song to add to my rotation. If you liked Sister Act 2 then check this out for sure.

Okay so now im in layover at the Detroit Metro Airport. We just went through the trippiest light up airport tunnel EVER. Dad and i were so in love with it that when we made it through we decided to go again. And then take pictures. and touch the walls. People thought we were trippin face. See tunnel pic below:

It changed colors in time with strange music. Amazing.

OH and i was craving a Shamrock Shake (unusual, i know) so i stopped at the airport mccy d's. They were out of shakes, so i convinced the girl to put some syrup on vanilla ice cream. Then her friend is like "we can make it a mcflurry so its mixed up." Amazing. Best McDonalds workers ever (besides you davita. duh).

Shamrock McFlurry!

Strange cognitive dad connection song of the day: "Lovely Rita" by The Beatles. So since i can remember my dad has quoted this song everytime someone says "Rita" or talks about parking meters. "Lovely Rita, Met-ah Maid." He tries to like, sing it, but you couldnt tell the song at all by his singing. Its more like sing-speaking. He does the same rhythm and for every song he sings lyrics of, so they all sound the exact same. Its a big running joke with me and schen. The other one he always uses is "Sweet loretta martin though she was a woman, but she was a frying pan." Its not the lyric to the album version "Get Back," but some outtake line that john says on an anthology track. I dont even know.

Skate station song of the day: "The Loco-Motion" by Grand Funk Railroad. This is the one that goes "Come on baby, do the loco-motion!" over and over. They play it at weddings and people make trains and run around trying to stay connected. The skate station used to play this all the time when we would go for birthday parties and stuff. Then everyone would try and make trains, but this time on roller skates. Genius idea guys. It always ended REALLY well. Hahah oh the 90's....

Where's my leather jacket? award: "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett. I just saw a preview for "The Runaways" and i CANNOT WAIT! I mean, Kristen Stewart with a Joan Jett mullet? Dakota Fanning as an oversexed bleach blonde teen? Badass chick rock and roll music? Sign me UP. So question... Am i allowed to think Dakota Fanning is hot yet? I mean, she just turned 16 a few weeks ago... and she is really mature for her age... and she is like 1 week older than Justin Bieber. So i feel like its okay. Creepy, but okay (VERY CREEPY, not that okay).

How amazing does this movie look???

Mmmmm... Crimson and Clover is such a sexy song. (clover. those are like shamrocks. where is the nearest mcdonalds...)

GOD I wanna lay out and tan!! award: "Sun Eyed Girl" by Beck. This one has a sweet backbeat and a keyboard part that sounds like a simon says game. AKA its amazing. Plus the lyrics are sweeeet:

I saw her, yea I saw her
With her black tongue tied round the roses
A fist pounding on a vending machine
Toy diamond ring stuck on her finger
With a noose she can hang from the sun
And put it out with her dark sunglasses
Walking crooked down the beach
She spits on the sand
Where their bones are bleaching

Props to Mallo for the great track :)

More to come tomorrow.

I LOVE that you slipped in an Office reference!

Dude, I keep forgetting to make a Skate Station Playlist.

Um, how old is Dakota supposed to be in that movie?

  • thepilge

hahaa i was hoping you would see this post, cuz i didnt think anyone else would understand the reference. Dad is insane. And Dakota is supposed to be 16- Cherie Currie was 16 when she met joan jett and they formed the band. So like, creepy accurate. I cant WAIT
