Best song title ever song of the day: "Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" by Panic! at the Disco. This song has great lyrics too:

Is it still me that makes you sweat?
Am I who you think about in bed?
When the lights are dim and your hands are shaking as you're sliding off your dress?
Then think of what you did
And how I hope to God he was worth it.
When the lights are dim and your heart is racing as your fingers touch his skin.
I've got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better fuck
Than any boy you'll ever meet, sweetie you had me
Girl I was it, look past the sweat, a better love deserving of
Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat?
No, no, no, you know it will always just be me

Pass the zig-zags award: "Colt 45" by Afroman. So im cooking breakfast and this song comes on my laptop. i decide to blast it and rap aloud. Dad totally heard it and later was like "so um.... nice rap song this morning..." hahaha.

Amazing cover award: "Crazy" by Ray LaMontagne. Dubs gave this one to me on a mix back in '07. I love Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," but Ray one gives it a whole new feel. Its slower, on acoustic guitar, and has LaMontagne's smokey blues voice. You should download this one for sure.

Cool cover award: "Only In Dreams" by Mock Orange. I love the original (its a Weezer song, if you didnt know that and therefore arent cool like me) (jk) (not really, i judge you for your musical knowledge) but Mock Orange does a nice job with it. I think the key for me is that they dont just try and copy Weeezer, but they also dont change the song too much. They made it their own but kept its true feeling there. Basically everything the contestants on American Idol cant do this season. (BURN!)

Gold Star: "Santa Monica" by Everclear. I was obsessed with this song during fall semester. Download it here (just right click and chose "save target as" or "download linked file". Parts of it still remind me of things ive been feeling:

I'll walk right out into a brand new day
Insane and rising in my own weird way
I don't want to be the bad guy
I don't want to do your sleepwalk dance anymore
I just want to feel some sunshine
I just want to find some place to be alone

Almost gold star: "In The Cold, Cold, Night" by The White Stripes. This is one of only 4 songs released by The White Stripes where Meg sings lead vocals. Jack actually doesnt sing at all in this track. The song is told by a girl on the edge of womanhood to her lover. It is soooooo sexy with its sliding guitar notes and humming background bass. Not to mention the steamy lyrics. I less than three Meg White. Check it out.

Hidden Gem: "Talk Hard" by The Pink Spiders. Ive never listened to it but i found myself loving some of the lyrics

I've got a mind to leave these cloudy skies behind
But I just thought that I should call and let you know
Cause I don't wanna be close no I don't wanna be in moderation
Slower conversations only lead me to believe I'm getting old
Just making small talk staring at the sidewalk
We exchange about the weather getting cold
And I don't wanna be close no I don't wanna be close
Too old for confrontation too young to let you know

They sound kind of angry, but im okay with it.

More to come tomorrow.
