by thepilge on Nov.22, 2009, under

So i didn't explain it yesterday but the bold songs with *'s next to them are ones i think are really worth a listen, sometimes even a download. i guess i should star a lot more than i do, but i figure ill star ones that stood out that day. heeerre weeeee goooo-oh-oh-oh-OH ( that was supposed to be like in that one *n sync song....) :

*Little Martha - The Allman Brothers Band
*The Only Living Boy In New York - Simon & Garfunkel
Fire Escape - Fastball
Leaves In The River - Sea Wolf

Song 2 is BAD ASS. 10 points for anyone who can sing along WITHOUT the help of google. (and mumbling something like "woooo-hoooo, well i falll la he mat low" doesnt count)

some great lyrics from "Track 11" by The Matches:

She got nicotine-basted lungs
wasted thumbs
and one of them asphalt
tastin' tongues

i love the music to this song. the acoustic guitar part is amazing, but the singer's voice is annoying at points. i think it ruins the songs chances of the gold star. i love the matches, but i dont think his tone meshes with the rest of the song. badass lyrics though.

the im-back-in-10th-grade-and-this-sounds-like-dashboard-confessional-wanna-be song of the day: "broken" by secondhand serenade. taste the teen angst and tears -> download it i mean really, i can feel the restrictive skinny jeans now.

most embarrassing song today: "this is me" from camp rock. listen... i dont even know.... my sister "made" me watch it a day so then i had to download the songs to get them out of my head you know? its not my fault! see, this whole blogging my way through my library idea means i cant hide my secret embarrassing musical passions. now the world will eventually find out about the Hanson thing... eff....

i definitely dig the guitar solo action going on in "Gonna Take It" by John Butler Trio. Props to Ian :)

worst song award:" 3 A Red Herring" by Rob St. John. It is so slow, so boring, and soooo bad. i think i downloaded it from a free blog site and never actually listened to it. it is songs like this that make me regret doing this. i had to endure all 6 minutes and 14 seconds of it. sigh.

gold star of the day: Hands DOWN it is "Little Martha" by The Allman Brothers Band. It doesn't have any lyrics but says so much. its just an acoustic guitar duet with a hell of a lot of emotion. take a listen if you don't know it, it is a perfect sunny day slow driving kind of song.

beautiful song award: "Only Living Boy In New York" by Simon and Garfunkel. Such a classic.

I am suprised that i enjoyed my blog playlist so much two days in a row. i know one of these days will be filled with painfully riduclous music, but for now it seems like im getting a solid mix. I love the random order and all the variety! Thats it for today, im off to listen to the new CD Schen-lah burnt me. Which reminds me...
