Ballad of the day: "That's Where It Is" by Carrie Underwood. I hate that i love this.

In a midnight talk, in a morning kiss,
When I'm in your arms, that's where it is,
When we're tangled up and can't resist,
When we feel that rush, that's where it is,
That's where it is

Rooted in history song of the day: "Shankill Butchers" by The Decemberists. Its a neat story.... about a murderous gang in Ireland. Sweet right? Its told as though its a bedtime lullaby warning children to
mind their mother's words
. I wiki-ed the song title and check it out:

The Shankill Butchers is the name given to a loyalist gang, many of whom were members of the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF). The gang conducted paramilitary activities in Belfast, Northern Ireland during the 1970s. It was most notorious for its late-night abduction, torture and murder (by throat slashing) of random Catholic civilians. The Shankill Butchers killed at least 30 people (including a significant number of Protestants) in sectarian attacks, paramilitary feuds, personal grudges and bombing raids. Despite extensive police resources being channelled towards the capture of those responsible, a wall of silence, created by a mixture of fear and respect in the Shankill community, provided few leads that could be followed.

There you go. History lesson of the day, with musical accompaniment to boot. I know, im pretty cool.

Best combo of the day: "The Clicker (For The Maggie Fans)" by Kathy Griffin and "Oprah's Favorite Things" by Kathy Griffin. She effing cracks me up. Hahaha Ugg boots in Macon, Georgia. Oprah is fucking crazy.

Hidden Gem: "Smoke and Mirrors" by The Audition. I just found this one and already love it. Im gonna blast it in my car all day long. check it out.

Coolest video of the day: "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia. I cant decide what i love more - the lyrics, the clothes, or natalie. mmmm. please enjoy this flashback moment with me:

Wheres the part where she lies naked on the floor dammit?!

Gold Star: "A Praise Chorus" by Jimmy Eat World. This song pretty much gets the gold for sampling from "Crimson and Clover." I know Joan Jett didnt do the original but her version is my favorite. I posted the whole thing below because its THAT good.

Are you going to live your life wondering
Standing in the back, looking around
Are you going to waste your time thinking
How you've grown up or how you missed out
Things are never going be the way you want
Where's it going to get you acting serious
Things are never going to be quite what you want
Even at twenty-five you got to start sometime

I'm on my feet
I'm on the floor
I'm good to go
And all I need is just to hear a song I know
I wanna always feel like part of this was mine
I wanna fall in love tonight

Are you going to live your life
Standing in the back, looking around
Are you going to waste your time
Oughta make a move or you'll miss out

Someone's going to ask you what it's all about
Stick around, nostalgia won't let you down
Someone's going to ask you what it's all about
What are you going to have to say for yourself

I'm on my feet
I'm on the floor
I'm good to go
And all I need is just to hear a song I know
I wanna always feel like part of this was mine
I wanna fall in love tonight

Crimson and clover
Over and over
Crimson and clover
Over and over

Our house in the middle of the street
Why did we ever meet
Started my rock 'n' roll fantasy
Don't don't, don't let's start
Why did we ever part
Kick start my rock 'n' rollin' heart

I'm on my feet
I'm on the floor
I'm good to go
So come on Davey, sing me something that I know
I want to always feel like part of this was mine
I want to fall in love tonight
You don't know
I wanna fall in love tonight
You don't know
I wanna always feel like part of this was mine
I wanna fall in love tonight
I wanna fall in love tonight
I wanna fall in love tonight

More to come tomorrow.
